it's how you measure yourself
based on the ceilings
and doorways
your thirsty roots take you
over bodies of water
across bridges and
state lines
country lines
it's where you're from
it defines you
no more looking up
you are not as tall as i once knew
you are not arbol grande
we are equals of a similar horizon
we share the blues of nature
no more white linens
